Stormy Weather (Nanny's Vacation Part 3)

Monday was another blustery day, but Graddaddy, Caedmon, and I enjoyed a nice early walk on the beach before anyone else woke up.

There were lots of lots of jellyfish.

That evening, we had a memorial for Nanny with candles and a balloon release.

Pensacola (Nanny's Vacation Part 2)

Sunday, the weather was rather stormy.  We visited the Pensacola Lighthouse and National Museum of Naval Aviation. Caedmon was too short to go up to the top of the lighthouse, so he stayed at the bottom with Granddaddy
while Abram, Owen, and I climbed all the way to the top.
The view was lovely from up there,

and we got in just in time as the tower was closed for strong winds just after we came back down.
The boys had fun exploring the planes in the museum.

Granddaddy seemed to enjoy watching the boys climb
 and check things out.

There . . . (Nanny's Vacation Part 1)

This week, we took a trip down to Gulf Shores, AL to visit with the Gilliland clan for what we call Nanny's Vacation.  Nanny passed away this summer, but she had already planned for the trip this year and next year. Family was important to her, and we were glad to get to visit with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

It was quite a haul down there, so we stopped at Mom's and Dad's and got up early(ish) and headed toward the big water.  Owen rode with Granddaddy, and Caedmon was with Abram and me.  He got his fingernails trimmed, and then gave me a mini pedicure.
We drove way off into nowhere to find a place to eat lunch.  Afterwards, we walked over to the Tractor Supply to see some critters being shown by the local FFA kids.

Caedmon had a bit of trouble getting to sleep, but pulling the top of his car seat cover over his head finally did it for him.

Autumn - Hot Cocoa

Hot cocoa made the easiest 20 minutes of parenting I've done in quite some time.

A Visit From Anne and Granddaddy

Living closer to home (wherever that may be) has its benefits including more frequent visits with family.  We get to have weekly family dinner nights with the Ring crowd, and this weekend my parents drove up for a visit.  We enjoyed a trip to the Saturday farmers' market where we got peaches, scuppernongs, cabbage, prosciutto, and a spaghetti squash.

Owen and Caedmon enjoyed sushi - twice.

We used Caedmon'd nap time for some projects.

Zoos and Anne bonded in the sun.

It was a nice way to spend the first days of autumn.

This Moment

This moment:  A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. ~ http://soulemama.com/
